www.westcoatsys.com This is a video of a Hotel roof we restored in the Columbia gorge. The gravel was the large kind used in yards and gardens. We applied the largest amount we have ever heard of at one time. An 18 and 6 specification that experienced no cracking or splitting during cure time!

  • The materials we used in this video are asphalt based and its function is to revitalize and preserve the functionality of the existing roof. What structural roof conditions exist will still be there when the job is complete. With the economy slump, the inevitable fall of TPO and the government pulling programs it is in the best interest for building owners to find a way to get more from what they already own. Restoration is becoming a smarter answer in a tightening budget environment.

  • Thanks... Oscar. You are proving what I tell many clients. Roofers make money Reroofing you. They want you to buy a complete tear off and reroof to add to thier pockets. Most roofs that are subject to removal usualy have less than 20% combined failure. It doesnt make sense to throw away a car because of two flat tires and a broken winshield so why do that with a roof? As we say it best Before you ReRoof Rethink Restore. Thanks Oscar

  • You may have noticed that we did not use poly on this job. The gravel was so large that if we had used a poly the peaks of the rock would eventually puncture the poly and water would fill the voids. When that water freezes it will expand the void and eventually tear the poly loose and the end result will be a water bed effect. Covering the roof with one or two thick coats will more than handle foot traffic and extreme weather changes this hotel experiences.

  • Believe it or not, this roof was done in one application. I would not recommend attempting this unless you have as much experience as our guy. He is the best of the best hands down.
