I am uploading this contest on request, and I hope everyone enjoys. When I was pulling clips I realized just how many Trovatores I had in collection, so I had to cut a few tenors. Anyway here are the singers and again a score of 1-5 for singing/characterization:
Francisco Ortiz - 1980
James McCracken - 1972
Franco Bonisolli - 1990
Giorgio Lamberti - 1982
Gianfranco Cecchele - 1999
Giuseppe Giacomini - 1981
Lando Bartolini - 1993
Alfredo Portilla - 2000
Marco Berti - 2004
Carlo Cossutta - 1977
Dennis O'Neill - 1992
Roberto Alagna - 2003
Marcelo Alvarez - 2006
Salvatore Licitra - 2002
Carlo Bergonzi - 1966
Luciano Pavarotti - 1990
José Carreras - 1985

  • @sopranosd

    Shut up idiot

He sang a powerfull and splendid high C ever !

  • He sings it well but his high c would be better transposed to B - as Caruso, Martinelli et al did to great effect.

  • @lightenor - you need to lighten up 'light' tenor, and learn some manners.

  • very sharp and powerfull

  • Roberto, amore mio, Manrico non è per te....

  • I don't like to hear him strain his voice in this repertoire, especially on that last terrifying high C. He has a tendency to go sharp, too, which to me indicates he is pushing too hard. His voice is so lovely in the lyric rep., like Nemorino. Sad to waste a terrific instrument on big shout-y roles.

  • I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Alagna in this repertory, but this is really hot. And in the original key!

  • I agree. Here's a thought.......lets hear you sing it Ben. I'll be the first to buy seats....one condition though, please make it in Toronto, you don't sing enough in Canada.

  • It`s good!

  • find your light dude. The spot is behind you. At least hit the cue right since you can't nail this song. To light a tenor.
