The "posted" speed limit is 35MPH. I doubt anyone got much over 50MPH. I didn't see anyone being stopped but there were track officials at various locations. An obvious limitation is having large groups of bikes of various (unknown) skill levels on the track at once. Many bikes running varying speeds on unorthodox lines makes it rather foolhardy to attempt any kind of "speed" run.
