Record labels becomes manufactures of music instead of just distributors is really a perfect way to put the current state of music. All the stupid reality show contest winners topping the mainstream music charts is really a good example of that. In the 90s labels distributed music, in the 2000s they have been manufacturing music and you can see the difference in quality.
