Mt. Inwangsan

This was quite the adventure. We got off the Subway at Dongnimmun Station and walked out exit number two. We took an immediate left at the the first street we came to. Walking up the street Seoul's Western mountain loomed eerily above us and my wife and I were a bit taken aback and nervous wondering how we were going to make it. As we walked up the road we stopped at a small family mini mart to buy some water and yummy Aloe Juice that Robert is addicted to. We were about to ask for directions because there is a ton of construction going on when the lady pointed to her husband who had just pulled up in a van. She asked us if we were going up to the Mountain and if we wanted a ride! It just so happened that her hubby was taking some residents up to their homes. We jumped in and were dropped off at the closest place a vehicle could get us! It is very easy to see where you need to go with the colorful Buddhist temple called Bongwonsa and the gigantic Bell they have set up. As we moved on from the temples we came to Zen Rock which is freaky and eerie. People were praying to it and lighting candles and what not. This thing has been a religious focal point in this area for hundreds upon hundreds of years. Tigers used to rule the area we were walking around on but now pigeons are the new rulers of Mt. Inwangsan. After Zen Rock we continued on passing various Shamanist shrines. Many places were a little dangerous navigating so don't take small children who like to run off with minds of their own. This was totally worth the trip even if we never would have gotten the van ride. Walking all the way back down to the Subway station was no problem at all.
