I think the ruin of the Shrek series was the new secondary characters introduced. In Shrek 1 we have Donkey, who is a very funny character. Shrek 2, we get Puss in Boots, who is an awesome character. But in Shrek 3, we got Artie. Yeah, an average kid who gets bullied in school isn't funny as the other two secondary characters. In Shrek 4 we got the Ogre Resistance who were ok, but the concept was very dark.

1st: Funny, fun to watch. 2nd: Awsome, funny, I almost got up yo dance my ass of. 3rd: Uuuh, there were some funny moments, but could've been better. 4th: Okay. Just... Okay.
