One of Jimmy Page's best solos and my personal favourite. I don't do the radical bend at the start (reaching behind the nut and all that) because I always find my 3rd string goes out of tune--irritating. Then, the rest of the solo is flat... So, I just slide around...difficult to pull off smoothly.

  • Hey, I'm working on this solo right now. Could you please tell me some settings I should have on my amp to make ti sound like this?? Thanks!

  • @lyrenthril Sure thing: Just run out and purchase Marshall 100w Super Lead ("plexi") head with modified / equipped with Variable AC Transformer (aka Variac). Crank it up to maybe 140 V AC (careful not to blow it). B M Tr and Pres. cranked. Cabinet w condenser mic on axis (and 80% room) Next, order an MXR Phaser 90 0.17 Hz 0% 30% Speed Fdbk Mix Ideally, use a stratocaster with both single and double pickups Alternately pick up Line 6 PODXT and input these settings
  • can you teach the solo for us??? that would be great...:):):):)

  • @Maidenism7595

That would be an interesting project. I'm so busy working but I'll definitely consider that. It would probably basically be like at 16 speed instead of at 78 rpm.

  • That.....WAS AMAZING :D Man, I wish I could do that.

  • @shurshshursh

Thanks man for watching my channel!

You could say that about any rock guitar solo--even EVH. There are also several chromatic notes ("blues notes") used tastefully in Heartbreaker. Jimmy was a very talented writer.

  • How i know u aren't jimmy page!? =D

  • no words...outstanding

  • its perfect !

  • Great Job my man could you PLEASE do a lesson on that lead?

would be great Christmas present to us.

    Thanks

  • Respond to this video... and your picking is a bit scratchy and the notes you fretted were a little bit undefined ..and he didn't use the phase 90 anywhere on that whole album .that is not a Plexi you used in the video and that isn't a vintage cabinet either it's probably got the white back Celestion Rockets in it instead of the Greenbacks or Vintage 30's ..plus you are playing a Les Paul not a Strat

  • @markus777 lol well first off your attempt at Jimmy Pages Heartbreaker solo is ok but has several major flaws starting from the attempt to imitate the bend he does behind the nut on the g string by just doing a very faint sounding slide with your finger..You may have used the stuff you mentioned but jimmy used a lot of different amps and guitars when he recorded and the heartvreaker solo was his 59 standard and a Vox AC30 amp all the way up.. Who ever uses a condenser on an axis lol

  • Oh. My. God.

  • @Maidenism7595 There's a good free online video lesson that shows how to how to play this solo note-for-note. Google "Heartbreaker jun626" and click on the Vanderbilly link (YouTube doesn't allow posting URL's in comments).

  • you play it to fast

  • super i like it very much

  • Thats a pretty clean tear through on that solo! Nice! However, I have yet to find someone on here actually breakdown the solo, slowly, like how DJ Ashba does in showing how he does his own solo for Lies of The Beautiful People, so we can really see whats going on, instead of struggling to guess at certain parts!
