Fairly calm, sunny, clear day, but has the radar going? That's no fun at all! Could pretty well stare at a computer the whole ride out to the fishing grounds.. Early morning west-coast fog with no GPS or Radar helps you stay alert :P

COLREGS require having the RADAR on even on a bright and sunny day.
