A beautiful song about the lifeboat disaster in the Firth of Tay, Scotland in 1959, written by Peggy Seeger. This is a slightly updated version of the last version I had up here (I had to make changes to the titles). Hope you still enjoy it.

  • This is brilliant!!!

  • @cathal627 Thanks Cathal...glad you enjoyed.

  • The Broughty Ferry life boat was called out to rescue a boat in trouble in the Firth of Tay December 1959.

The lifeboat capsized and was washed up on Carnoustie beach while the ship they were called out to help survived along with the crew....unlike those who had gone to their aid.

  • @BillDFC It's such a sad story when you hear details like that. I hope you liked the song. check out my other song when you get a chance & thanks for taking the time to post.

  • I love this song and stumbled across the video looking for something else! - as I looked at it I thought the rocks looked familiar and then saw the unmistakable Hook Lighthouse near the end of the video. My uncle was lost at sea just around the point in 1957.

Hi. I'm glad you enjoyed the song, & yes....you're 100% correct. It is Hook Lighthouse, in the beautiful county Wexford. It's one of my favourite places in the world. Thanks for the nice comment. This video is a dedication to the lifeboat service & to all those lost at sea...that includes your uncle.
