What exquisite music, and what a fabulous voice--satin with a silky finish. Donizetti is my favourite opera composer and I love how Caballe served his music. I agree with the earlier reviewer that it was a shame the "big" America houses didn't produce the bel canto operas for her. Now next year the Met is doing Anna Bolena with Netrebko. She'll never get through it alive!

This WAS Monsterrat at her best and in her absolute prime. A pity the theaters did not catch on and continue the bel canto revival with her. She went on to "bigger and better" things and eventually got out of control. Her public still liked her though and put up with her "divaisms"...
