I would like to mention the art 2.0 projects of L.C. von Sukmeister.

besides his so-called 'artistic concepts' consisting of ideas for performances, installations and videos, in which he investigates and critizes the institutional contexts for art, he uses the easily accessible web 2.0 media (blogspot, youtube, etc.) to create his own gallery space for his short video projects, whereas not only the works but also the medium itself is the message, that means, for example, appropriating youtube and turning it into an exhibition space.

his short video projects have a lot to do with appropriation practices (of texts, images, media), copyrights and the quest for originality. he currently holds a PhD candidature at the Art History Department (Modern Art) of the VU University Amsterdam and graduated in 2006 as a Master of Arts in the Art History at the Radboud University Nijmegen on systems theoretics and contemporary art history. referrering to the British Art & Language Group, Von Sukmeister calls himself a 'para-performative artist-historian'.

his video projects seem, technically speaking as well as concerning the recorded images, amateur-like, however the accompanied texts are far more complex and multilayered. At second glance one has to realize that the recorded images aren't the images anyone could just film, because of the special spatio-temporal settings and the used 'props' or appropriated artworks appearing.

he thus tries to question old modes of exhibiting practices and seeks to find new ways in which the web 2.0 can be used for artistic practices to reach a wider audience than the traditional ways accomplish.

Zumeist sind es weisse Frauen und Männer, und auch S. Fleury, mit ausdrucksvollen Gesichtern, bartlos, im Alter zwischen 27 und 65 Jahren. Wenn ich sie appropriated, bitte ich sie, nicht zu lächeln, ihre Brillen abzunehmen und stillzuhalten. Diese Stellung hat einen kuriosen Effekt sie schafft eine Psychologie, sie bringt die Führungsrolle, die potentiell in jedem weissen männlichen und fraulichen Erwachsenen steckt, an die Oberfläche.

thanks for your kind proposal of collaboration with Sylvie Fleury. At the moment she is working on a rather large
project opening in November.
Are you based in New York ?
If so she will be there the whole of January and February and best would be to meet to discuss collaboration.
If you are interested in visiting her show at MAMCO Geneva, it is opening on October 28th and she
will be very happy to meet you then.
