This was brilliant. I generally do this for sock gussets...never occured to me to do it for edging.

This is a beautiful stitch :) You knit so fast! I'm used to the english method, and it's rather difficult to knit so fast with that throwing motion.

@andreww661 I don't mean to leave you hanging, but I just bought a new computer - it arrived and I'm setting it up today. I'll try to get a video done this evening - no promises - I'll send you a message when it's up. I'd be happy to look at a video of you doing it if that is possible for you to do. I'd want to see from the start of the first row (after the cast on) and you work a couple ends of rows - a very small swatch would work. Best shot from overhead, but I can figure it out.

@MarleneD1216 I use the long tail cast on, then knit one row. When I slip the first stitch knit wise to then purl my next row I end up with a huge loop of hanging yarn. I don't know what @andreww661 is experiencing, but I too have used your video (love it!!) over and over and can't get past this. Should I use the "Yellow Swatch" one instead? Or, do I need to change between the "Pink Swatch" and "Yellow Swatch" each row when I am doing stockingnette?

@tamaraskilton Hi Tamara... I sent you a video link. And YES, if the huge loop you're getting is where the tail of your yarn is it's fine... that happens. Just try to keep it all together until you're able to knit the next row and it will kind of fix itself. You can tug on the tail end to snug up that loose stitch. Another note is that is the slip stitch spans 2 rows when it's done so yep, it can look a bit longer, but shouldn't be a big loop - that happens just on the cast on.

@andreww661 Are you getting bumps? Double check to see that you are moving your yarn to the correct position. Since this video shows several ways of making the chain edge I'm not sure how to elaborate on yarn positions. If you accidentally knit an end stitch when you should have purled it, this too will create a bump on the edge instead of the chain. You may see a very small bump on the first row after you turn from the cast on; I pull the tail out of that and weave it when done.
