I first took a fancy to Mrs. Bouvier because her raspy voice reminded me of my old Victrola. Oh, it was a fine machine with a vulcanized rubber listening tube which you crammed in your ear. The tube would go in easier with some sort of lubricant like linseed oil or doctor...

Lest we forget--Bobby Burgess was one of the original Mouseketeers.

Oh gosh, those good 'ol days! I remember my mother watching Mr. Welk on saturday nights on our 20" sylvania TV while we all, and I do mean ALL, 7 of us sat together, had pizza, and enjoyed the music. My Mother, who is 93, still watches the reruns on her local PBS station back up in N.J. My God, the memories......

Strip away the veneer that passes for entertainment these woeful days: this presentation is clean and without spot. If this writer were a multi millionaire, this WOULD BE A SUPERBOWL COMMERCIAL...'nuf said.

Somebody pointed me to this video. I just realized why. It was first aired on TV on Feb. 16th, 1961. that is the day I was born.
I remember watching him on TV when I was really young too. I had Scarlet Fever when I was 11 and had to stay home from school for almost a month. My parents let me stay up later thsan usual for bedtime and I got to watch F Troop, Star Trek, Lawrence Welk, Bonanza and others. They were all new shows back then. Seeing this video really makes me feel good.

@The1fuzzylogic .. Barbara Boyland left the show in the mid-60s to start a family of her own.. she married into a well-to-do family and raised adorable children. and yes, I agree, TV is nothing but TRASH ! I only watch reruns of those fabulous shows from the 50s-70s and SOMETIMES the 80s. Otherwise, I read a book or watch something on YouTube
@somewhationgdong..Hey, why make fun of the audience? This was in 1961, the culture was not blessed yet with stage diving, drugged out groping, overdoses, partially nude groupies, incoherent screaming, or passing around the doob or pipe and getting high as a kite or fights in the parking lot....have a little compassion, please. They hadn't a chance to "evolve" up to today's standards...just sitting and enjoying great music was enough for these "uncultured" ones...

Growing up in the early '60s, I remember noticing the elderly retired couple next door as they would have their Saturday dinner together, then watch The Lawrence Welk Show on their patio while sitting on a swing lounge, holding hands, telling each other how much they loved one another....at the time I thought this all was real cornball...now, as I look at today's television, hear today's music and sit in a condo by myself, separated from my wife, I sure don't think i'ts cornball anymore....
