First ever video how-to that teaches you how to DIY disassemble, reassemble & replace a Toshiba Thrive screen.

See the ThriveForums.org FAQ Instructions:
http://www.thriveforums.org/forum/toshiba-thrive-faq-guides/2520-how-teardown...

(Note: See some important updates in the link above to determine the current state of this repair. Toshiba is now offering the glass and the plastic assembly as an all-in-one unit, making it unnecessary to remove the glass.)

Warning: Doing anything in this video will certainly void your warranty and if you're not careful, could create even further damage for you to deal with. Please read all disclosed disclaimers prior to deciding to do this for yourself.

If you need help, please use the link above & post your question to this post in the Thrive Forums. As needed, I will update the written FAQ. General comments are welcome here or on the forums.

  • Thx, uh, for the uh, tutorial, uh.

  • @zexarious Before judging, I'd suggest you try teaching a topic that you barely know and something that's never been taught before.

  • Excellent Tutorial. It looks like H000036130 is $160.00. Unfortunately part# H000032650 is no longer available :(

But it still beats Toshiba repairing it...price wise.

  • @fallout330 I updated the post in the description with the updated part numbers. There's also at least one report of a user successfully ordering/repairing with the new part numbers.

  • thanks for the tutorial, saved me. For some reason here in Australia they dont want to replace the screen or sell me the part, they just want me to buy a brand new one....it didnt matter who i took it too !! my in-laws will never know what happened to their thrive ;)

  • @revco696 Nicely Said!

  • @revco696 thanks for the update revco696!

  • @jawston9 The foam is really simple. It's just a strip of foam with an adhesive and removable backing. You simply attach it where it was on the previous glass. There's reports that the updated part numbers (found in the link in the description) provide you with the foam and therefore they aren't necessary to order separately.

  • @mbradvid If you send me one, sure. If not, no...sorry!

  • @lawnside82 Just FYI, as it stands now, it's no longer necessary to go through the glass removal process. The updated part numbers in the link found in the description provide you with a part number that includes both the bevel and the glass, all ready attached. I wish this is how it was when I did it.

  • @lewiscotto You can get the parts from National Parts Depot. See the link in the description for more details. I have a full updated bill of materials and some updated info on the replacement that has changed since I recorded this video.
