The 2009 ENA Leadership Conference opened with a stunning scene as a simulated airplane taxied forward with the 2001: A Space Odyssey films theme music blasting overhead. When it came to a full stop, 2009 ENA President William T. Briggs, RN, MSN, CEN, FAEN, and the board of directors disembarked to thunderous applause.

  • I completely understand. You've provided us with an invaluable perspective through your outside observation which enabled us to clarify this perception. Thanks for your support and understanding. I hope we might have the opportunity to one day welcome you back to the ENA family as a member. Until then, we will continue to serve your interest as an emergency nurse with great devotion.

  • I appreciate the explanation and the concern given regarding my comment. I also thank you for putting things into a proper context. I hope you can understand how I was given the impression which lead to my original comment..

  • We appreciate your comment and the fair criticism you offered based upon the impression this video left with you. We want to let everyone that the airplane is a permanent theater stage prop at the hotel/convention center where Leadership Conference 2009 took place. As a result, the prop/entrance was offered at no additional charge. Further, we felt the plane was appropriate given the conference theme of "Soar - Aspire to New Heights" .

  • Sorry, but with economic times the way they are, this intro is over the top and reminds me of how the auto executives were clueless... Maybe ENA dues would could be affordable if there would be some fiscal restraint from its leaders. Glad I couldn't renew my membership this year because I would be outraged at this waste of money for leadership hoopla
