  • @UberNoodleX oh of course it can be a tremendous barrier to integration however (again) it does depend on where you live, if you live in certain areas of Melbourne and any other large city here in Australia you could easily get by when you only speak Greek, Italian or Mandarin

  • @irishgodfatherchris Yet Lsik College's web page is entirely English and boasts a 'comprehensive English curriculum'. Regardless, non-English nations have International schools and ones catering to particular needs. My point is, not knowing English in Australia (for example) is an incredible barrier against integration and success, and many vital aspects of living. When abroad, many English speakers find themselves in the reverse situation, yet misconstrue it as racism.

  • @UberNoodleX Senator Cormann was only elected to the Senate last election but he was originally appointed to fill a casual vacancy (another Liberal Senator had resigned), Yes English is the dominant language but as a whole we don't actually have to use it and as you know most do but some don't, indeed there are about 6 schools in my city alone (Isik College leaps to mind) that do not teach in English but adhere to the same curriculum as English speaking schools.

  • @Ansett76 What are YOU talking about? The books were printed by a group notable for regular right wing rhetoric against China, Korea and the USA? China has the same crowds, who print lies about Japan, or throw urine and feces on CHINESE nationals because they do business in Japan or 'forget' to toe the extremist line. They are exactly the same. Their cause is irrelevant because they aren't truly interested in solutions to it, only in maintaining a status quo of hate on both sides.

  • @irishgodfatherchris You deflected the question because it exposes the flaws in your position. Senator Cormann is under no legal obligation to speak English, but if he didn't, he'd not be a senator and would probably be part of a large class of Australian residents and citizens who cannot function fully within society due to language, cultural and legal 'trust' barriers. These are the same barriers which affect English speakers in non-English speaking nations.

  • @UberNoodleX I answered it just not in the way you wanted the fact of the matter is Senator Cormann is under no legal obligation to speak English on the floor of the Senate, he just chooses to.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Yeah ... question, not answered.

  • @doctorw2 no bloody KKK my arse....you should pull your head out of your ass mate...and wake up to what's going on in the world.....that comment is laughable.
