Oh and most of the story is in Miley's POV, and I'll tell you when it isnt...enjoy :)

Part 1

I felt the jolt of my body as Ladina B or Dina as I called her, the 13 year old grey mare I've had since I was 14, landed the brightly coloured jump we just cleared. The crowd started clapping and that was the last jump of our course, clearing it all I came to a halt.
"And the winner is...Miley Cyrus with no faults and a time of 32.6 seconds." The guy in the microphone announced to the arena. I bowed and trotted out of the exit to the stables out back where my mum and a stable hand were waiting. I jumped off Dina and patted her neck as the stable hand led her off.
"You did great Miles. I've just got the qualifier sheets and you've qualified for the Puissance at HOYS, you know the one with the big wall?" My mum said, handing me a bottle of water.
"Yeah mum, it's one of the biggest events of the year. We'll have to order a foam wall to practice."
"Okay, well your dad is bringing the box down so as soon as Ladina has cooled down we can load up and go home."

We were in the horsebox for the 2hr drive home as I sat in the front seat, biting my nails and looking of the window.
"What's wrong hunny?" My mum asked worried.
"Well, today Dina didn't feel right, she didn't buck or go too fast or anything."
"Isn't that a good thing?" She asked confused.
"No, she seems bored of jumping, like she doesn't get the thrill of it anymore. If she's bored then there's no way that we're gonna get over a 7ft wall for the Puissance. And then we've got the two new youngsters coming tomorrow who I've gotta test, plus ones a stallion. I've gotta prepare them two for the autumn show season, that is if they're any good!"
"Darlin, calm down! Take a deep breath, you just need to relax. You're seventeen, just finished school. You have the whole summer before college. You need a break, which is why me and your dad are hiring some more workers, a new guy to do all of the DIY things instead of your dad who starts tomorrow and a new rider to lighten the load off your back, she starts next week. Maybe Ladina is sensing how stressed out you get nowadays, you used to be so carefree and just jump, now you over think things. Remember horses are very sensitive, if you're stressed and worried then Dina will be too. That was the last show of the season, go out with your friends, have fun!"
"God I think I've got a headache after that lecture." I joked. "But thanks mum." I leaned over and hugged her.

The silver horse box pulled up onto our yard and the dealer got out and started speaking with my dad.
"These horses better be worth the money we paid for them." I whispered to my mum, watching the workers pull the front ramp down.
"They were expensive, but they have really good bloodlines, they'll do great." A bay 17hh Holstein stallion got lead out followed by a chestnut 16.3hh Melkenburg gelding.
"This is the stallion so he's on the back yard right?" I asked my mum as I took a hold of the lead rope.
"Yeah, but the bolt on his door was broke so the new worker Nick is fixing it and putting his nameplate on, he wont be long though."
"Okay." I took the new horse round to the back yard and saw a guy drilling in the last screw for a nameplate that read Locarno 62. He turned and had brown curly hair and deep brown eyes to match. He was wearing old jeans and a white v-neck that clung to his body showing off his muscles and abs. I noticed he was looking me up and down but then stopped when he realised I caught him.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." He moved out of my way and I walked Locarno into the stable, removing his travel boots, bandages and rug, leaving him to eat his hay. As I walked out of the stable Nick was still standing there smirking.
"Dont you have work to be doing, I'm pretty sure my dad doesn't pay you to just stand there." I told him, crossing my arms.
"I guess so." Before walking off he winked at me and I just scoffed, he's nothing but a worker, a fit one at that though........
