Ashley Smith prison video

The following video is a disturbing insight into the danger and distress of the young inmate, Ashley Smith, and her troubling interactions with her guards. The video was shown Wednesday, May 18, at a coroner's inquest examining the death of the New Brunswick teenager who died while under observation at Grand Valley Institution for Women, in Kitchener, Ont. The inquest is probing whether she intended to kill herself or whether it was meant as a cry for help after years of confinement. The video was recorded 16 months before Ashley Smith's death.

This girl was put in jail for throwing apples at someone. Then due to psychosis and clostrophobia etc, she lost her mind because they put her in solitary confinement for 3 years due to her desperate attempts to be free which acted out as violent desperation. There has to be another solution!

this is what corrections does. they put you in a cage and treat you like an animal and all you know is life in a cage so you become an animal and they cant point at you and say 'ha! this ones not fit for society look at how he or she acts!' when they whole while they were forcing you to act no other way. poor girl is 19 fucking years old how would you act?? she was only supposed to be there a month! 3years went by before she chose to end her life it was her only wayoutof this torture.

Holy crap, someone who broke the law kills them self while locked up for breaking the law, and it's WHO'S FAULT?!?? The hell is wrong with this world?! Her death could have been avoided by simply not killing herself, I know it is a novel concept to the youth, but when you break the law, you are supposed to go to jail, and if you kill yourself, you are dead at YOUR own hands, no one else!
