A special Didge Circle event this Sunday, 26th of July, 2009, at Mia Mia Gallery in Templestowe, Victoria, Australia. Thank you to Peter Matic and Mia Mia Gallery for organising and hosting this fundraiser at such short notice, and to everyone for coming along in support of Darryl. I know some of you drove long distances to get there, thank you.

Darryl Dikarrnga Brown, master of the mago and protege of the late David Blanasi, gave us an insight into the Kun-borrk tradition during a 2 hour session at Mia Mia Gallery. It might be simple to him, but it got most of us stumped! The traditional techniques and rhythms of the Top End really are quite unlike anything we are accustomed to in the contemporary didge scene... the tonguings, the breathing patterns, the interaction of the vocals with the fundamental note of the instrument. One thing is for sure. Darryl's mastery of the mago has given us inspiration for further practice and improvement.

Didge Circle events in Melbourne are organised by Peter Matic, usually once every month. Peter can be contacted by email: pmatic@bigpond.net.au

If you are in Melbourne and would like to be part of a great group of guys (and some gals) who love didgeridoo, get Peter to put you on his mailing list and you'll be kept informed of any local events and special guest appearances of the likes of Darryl Dikarrnga Brown.

For those who wish to help in other ways, you can also make a donation securely and conveniently using Paypal, please take a look at the following page:
