  • @will1988a You probably have seen it, but just to let you know there is a YouTube video on the 'fast taxi' Lightning. Of course, seeing it first hand like you did is the BEST for the full impact.

  • @rampking1 Yes the Lightning had 2 Avons. I was lucky enough to stand a few metres away from one doing a 'fast taxi' run last month. Havent seen a Phantom since RIAT 2003 they are an incredible aircraft

  • @will1988a I disagree, only the Brits used the Rolls Royce. And in that case it was the

    RR Spey engine. Btw, it was the Germans that figured out how to modify the

    GE J-79 to smoke-less in some versions. I believe the RAF Lightning used 2

    RR Avon engines.
