Hmmm... I'm a noob in this coz I don't own any BMW :)
But the info that I know is that it can be played in the latest 2009 E90 with brand new i-Drive. It is because the old one uses a DVD slot to run the NAV System while the new one stores map data in the i-Drive internal Hard Drive so the DVD slot can be use to play DVD movie etc...
Perhaps maybe there's a way for your car but I have no idea... You need to mod a bit I guess :)
