As the demand for green energy increases, so does the amount of effort spent in the research and development of more efficient designs. Horizontal axis wind turbines have become one of the largest sources of green energy. Due to their size and interactions with the surrounding environment, experimental testing is limited and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is heavily used. However, generating CFD meshes that can accurately capture the large range of flow-scales is a major challenge.
