@bigpoppabball The Democrats, including the main characters, are often portrayed as assholes too. I think Jed Bartlett would admit to being a proud asshole, considering what he said about how being partisan and elitist isn't really a bad thing. The Democratic characters often defend Republicans as well. On that point, you're saying that the Republicans' "come to Jesus" moment is some sort of bad thing. God forbid politicians get along with one another.

@AnnoyingPassword that's not really true at all. Most of the Republicans are shown as total assholes (only a few aren't vice-conservative foils), the characters are constantly going on what are supposed to be inspiring rants demonizing mainstream conservative positionst, and even the few smart republicans Sorkin wrote usually have some "come to jesus" moment where they repudiate members of their party and defend the democrat personally, if not ideologically.

@bigpoppabball It's not really partisan. Obviously the main characters are Democrats and the Democrats often win in the series, but the show also generally cast Republicans in a good light. Most Republicans were shown as being very intelligent people who could hold their own incredibly well against the Democrats. They generally weren't shown in an unflattering light (except for the Speaker of the House in season 5 who was an asshat). So were the main characters partisan? Yes. Was the show? Nah.
