  • how install the system 6.0.8 in my Macintosh SE/30 FDHD i need help i need back to the life this mac, thanks

  • @ipolarworks

This is quite easy if you've got an old Mac or PC with a floppy drive. Because the SE/30 and the SE FDHD have got an HD drive, you can just download the 6.0.8 disk images for free on the Net (Apple Server, Old Software List), write the images to disks and boot your old Mac with these. Then you can install the system.

  • I'm working on a Mac SE, it's booting now. A question: Where can I find the Prince of persia for mac? I can only find the DOS' version. Thank you! And congratulations, wonderful video!

  • Unfortunately the old Underdogs server where thousands of these old Mac games were hosted is gone :(. A new site was put up: macintoshgarden (dot) org. But they don't have Prince of Persia for Mac yet. They announced they will upload more games in the next months, so you should look for it in regular intervals.

  • I have the "Prince of Persia" for Mac! Now I'm thinking... How take the .sit from my linux box to the SE? Working on it. Another question: You really wash the motherboard? :-O Thank you again.

  • No idea how to transfer it. On my SE/30 it was easy because it has an HD drive and my PC could write these disks, but the SE only has DD... And yes, I did wash my motherboard because it had the SimasiMac (leaking caps short out traces) and refused to boot. After that, I desoldered these leaking chip caps from the board and soldered in new tantalum caps. Now the SE/30 is running fine again. This is only necessary on the SE/30! Your SE most probably doesn't even have chip caps that could leak...

  • LOL Chariots of Fire was played when Steve Jobs introduced the Macintosh in 1984! It's funny that you put that song there! By the way, are you running Mac OS 7 on that computer?

  • Chariots of Fire XD Nice touch, Steve Jobs.

  • Thanks for the video, great that you got it working!

I don't understand why you washed the board though. You say "...this is necessary because of conductor which short-circuited parts on my board". I don't understand.

I know some people wash boards when they are covered in dust, as dust on chips can make them overheat.

  • wmg strikes AGAIN!!!

  • @diseitz Just use Stuffit.

Now, as for the exisitng .img file, you are on your own, though I have found a program for MS-DOS that will write .img files on to a floppy disk, and will format the disk in to hfs format, for use on a Macintosh.

  • @lolfunnycp it's a se, not a se/30. also it is fdhd

  • i'll post a video response about a problem i'm having with my mac se. everything seems to be fine except the screen which is blank! I can even hear the hard drive loading!
