A how-to video on strobe power packs. This is Intended for film makers, assistants and photographers.

These videos were originally made a training for my assistants but I am sharing them here as a service to the photographic community. They may be a little too specific to my procedures and equipment but there is good information there for anyone interested in the topic.

  • They are like a matched pair with a hexagonal fitting so they don't twist. It was purchased a Samy's Santa Ana, CA.

  • The beauty dish is very efficient so you don't need a lot of power to get images in full sun. I usually use it at less than 1/2 power from 10-12 feet or more. The batteries (mine are 1 year old) last a good 100 pops or more at that setting. Very efficient.

The J clip is by Manfrotto. I bought it as Sammy's.

  • you hang your cabels on your knob?

    cool.. didnt think of that

  • Pure genius I know!

  • i have this yoshima DL 9000do you know anything about it bcuz i cant find anything on it

  • What clamp do you use to attach the pack to the stand like that? I've been searching many retailers but haven't found a clamp like that one. If you have an URL to where you bought yours, it would be really appreciated.

  • How did you attach the hook to the super clamp or is there a kit? Where did you buy it?

  • Thanks for the info!

  • Great video man, thanks alot. Two questions though.

Where do I get a J Clip to buy and what have you seen as the best settings for the power pack output for great images and longevity of battery life.

    Thanks for the assistance.

  • Profoto have nice modifiers, a plug form that looks like something out of a Star Destroyer and nice looking strobes.

But for the money, they ought to be made by Swedish Virgins, coz there aint nothing they can do that an Elinchrom or Broncolor can.

They are pricing themselves out of the market, even though popular as rentals.
