  • Its not that I am blaming the state for racism. Its just the lack of content in the curriculum. The state doesn't make one attempt to studying anything related to Africa other than slavery or Colonial Africa. This was just a project for an education and I am trying to make a connection why a large % of students have a negative view of Africa. It is just a hypothesis.

And I agree with you. I was just looking at this through educational lenses and what teachers could do that might change it.

  • Not sure what to make of this. I was born and raised in S.C. and attended S.C. public schools. I find this a little bit "race-baiting". I am not a racist, nor do I tolerate racism in my presence, but I think this is just more "political correctness" run amok. Africa IS important, but I think this is over-the-top. Sorry. Blame the MEDIA!!...Not, the state of S.C. or it's "curriculum". The MEDIA has put forth a lot more negative imagery than any textbook, anywhere!
