  • This man influenced a lot of drummers thank you MR. Elvin

  • Every professional drummer has had nights like this! Like Elvin one must remain calm and focused and attempt to transcend the unpredictable and out-of-control drum set! I've had to play kit on the back of a flat-bed truck driving over country roads!

  • @Pir44tti and he still kept on pushing through and kicking ass! :D

  • Awesome groove master...............

  • That, in my opinion, is one of the best sounding snares I've every heard. :D

  • @theoriginalbillholt I still do have duct tape on stuff.I tape my pedals down for every show. And use it after the show in the hotel room,Hahahaha.

  • What a combative bunch for a brotherhood, assuming that most of the respondents here are drummers. Relax, uptight ones! 'Subjective' is the most important term to bear in mind when debating the merits of music and musicians. Shitty solo. Equipment issues, on-camera. How might you perform under the same conditions? 'Genius'? Overused, imprecise term. Even geniuses suck at times. I wonder if he switched to Ludwig after this fiasco? They had the 'spur-loc' to stop BD creep. Ringo used one pre-'68.

  • @semiLivedj I was just thinking how I was FOUR when this was recorded. It looks like it should be a bit older than that, but much older B&W footage can be hard to date. The duct tape suggestion makes me smile: tried and true. I knew a guy who had hardware that was literally held together by layers of it.

  • The drum set moves on the floor, poor guy has to correct time to time :D

  • This is a terrible drum solo by one of the best drummers ever! One has to remember ,Elvin was a musical genius, not a technician. I've seen him live many times, and was always amazed with his ability to play in 3/4 to a 4/4 tune. To this day, the only other drummer that came close was Rashid Ali. (Another musical genius)
