r.i.p my friend. i will always remember your incredible lifting technique and power.may you continue lifting on that big platform in the sky.you are missed indeed.
It needs to be said about Alexeev---dig the thick, dark sideburns he had. I saw only 1 speculation as to his training lifts---a 1,014 pound squat (reference exists in several places, I haven't seen documentation). It seems reasonable he did 260 kilos at least clean and jerk in training, it would only be 4 kilos over his official best which was 96.24% of Taranenko's official best. Alexeev's 255 looked damn easy clean, recovery and jerk, wobble at top, he was off balance only.
I think Alexeev was a top example of being strongest in assistance lifts doesn't always equate to a higher clean and jerk and total. I was stunned to learn of his demise. My father's MD told me Alexeev wouldn't live to age 60 due to the stress on the heart caused by holding great weights overhead. But he almost made 70. How often doctors are wrong and people do far better than the poor prognoses they sometimes callously issue. His snatch would have been more if the demands to win were more!

I'd be very proud of myself if I could deadlift 500 pounds. C&J'ing it is incredible.
