Broadcasting from Gravesend, not far from Coney Island. 1980-1989 every Friday night, most Saturday nights, too, and every snow storm.

CB is a two way radio system and you CANNOT broadcast music and/or lengthy programs on CB.

That would be a good solution, temporary permits with limited power, for local neighborhood broadcast, subject to renewal. Of course you have to accept a NO if the band is full in a dense populated area. Commercial stations are not going to want their signal stepped on.
As it is now you have to go through a full station approval that I assume is way more than some stone'ers can do money or motivation wise. Illegal or Pirate is the only way for now. Now you can start a internet radio show.

Looks like Billy Joel's An Innocent Man is the album you guys are putting away towards the beginning.

If the FCC had any sense they would allocate a certain range in frequencies for the public to operate on.
