Abby and Brittany Hensel, are the world’s only known dicephalus conjoined twins. Although they are two completely separate people, these accomplished teens share a body and have just two arms and legs between them. Born in 1990, the girls have been brought up in a small, tightly knit community in Minnesota, USA. To their friends and family, they are distinct people with very different personalities, needs, tastes and desires. But to the outside world they are a medical mystery. They can do virtually all the same things as their friends, including playing the piano, riding a bike, swimming and playing softball. The twins and their family have always resisted non-essential medical tests. "The family want to treat them as though they are just like everyone else. Just one child in 50,000 is born connected by some body part to a womb mate. Rarer still is Abby and Britty's particular condition, known as dicephalus: No more than four sets of surviving twins in recorded history have shared an undivided torso and two legs. Each of the Hensel twins has her own heart and stomach but together they rely on three lungs. Their spines join at the pelvis, and below the waist they have the organs of a single person. Each controls the limbs and trunk, and feels sensations, on her own side exclusively: If you tickle the ribs on the right, only Abby giggles. Yet the girls manage - no one knows exactly how - to move as one being. The Hensel twins are an inspiration, mainly because their very existence forces one to consider the sanctity of the soul. The Hensels are rare gems. There would be a very long queue of scientists, with very modern techniques of imaging brain and nervous system function, who would love to find out how the girls coexist. The co-ordination with which they undertake daily tasks and sporting activities is incredible, considering each girl controls one hand and one leg. Joined for Life shares the girl’s struggles, goals, disappointments and laughs. Viewers will be inspired and touched by their courage and positive attitude.

So many things I want to know. What if they both like different guys, and the guys both like the girls, how does that work out? Like does one head have one bf and the other head another bf or do both heads go out with the same guy? Im wrapping my brain around this one. Maybe they'll never have a love life.
