Except the daff, which is only permitted on certain occasions (e.g days of Eid and Mina And about the prooves prohibiting music is various for example The prophet pbuh said From among my followers, there will be those who consider illicit sex, wearing of silk, drinking intoxicants and using musical instruments as legal. Bukhari, volume 7, Book of Drinks, hadith no. 5590
So if the prophet pbuh said that they will make these legal after they have already been made illegal, shows that it is haram

@1992Muslim I aint trying to be rude, but you know there are books in which lifetime scholars of Islam explain these hadiths. Do you have a license to interpret these hadiths and give us rulings or not?

Music in islam can be haram at some times and halal in others. It all depends on the content of the lyrics, if the lyrics is to do with issues that will mislead you and pull you away from god then surely it is prohibited, and i am sure that almost everyone knows that todays music is mostly leading to corruption. On the other hand music that have beautiful lyrics that talks about islam and permissible topics that doesn't go against morality, is halal inshallah. However music instruments are haram

@changminkeybum
here you already answered yourself, the first reason that it is haram in the first place is the possibility for you to get addicted to it that u wont even pray.
same goes to alcohol, though alcohol has direct negative effect that are shown, some people get addicted to it and get problems. Also the same goes for gambling.
Plus over time music will have bad effect, like dark thoughts, bad mentality. you can see famous musicians these days and how some's lives has changed to worse.

I'm British. I don't understand why the authorities in America are so violent against the Muslim communities? Here in Britain the authorities respect everyone whether you're Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Hindu or whatever. As long as you don't get into trouble and do not threaten the security of the UK then you're alright. It's the same case with the rest of Europe. We just want everyone to be happy. the US should learn from Europe a lesson or two about human rights, respect and freedom.

because the united states sees islam as a violent religion. don't forget that there is a very large jewish influence in america, which further adds to the anti-islam bias.

Those who claim music is halal have no proof from the legislation, whatsoever!!! They only bring their desires. For those who care, based on the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah: music is haraam!!!!

All music is not haraam...a zikr is a song because it has rhythm...it is a type of song...if you speak of a type of music that is haraam speak of the type that degrades humanity...songs of zikr and those of peace and islam and others are not haraam...they are infact mokhru.
