[March 20, 2010 / Miami, Florida] Miami's most celebrated cover/dance band of the 60's reassembled IN their 60's to headline a one-night-only reunion of South Florida's most memorable local bands, hosted by legendary WQAM DJ Emeritus, Rick Shaw. What a treat!

The Kollektion -- originally named for having cherry-picked all-star South Florida musicians from The Shaggs, Sounds Unlimited and Dr. T & The Undertakers -- reunited original vocalists Richie Chimelis and Angel Rissoff, Gregg Shaw (drums) and Bobby Jabo (lead guitar) with guest musicians Don Fedele (keyboards, The Echo), Brooks Reid (bass, New York Square Library) and special guest Joe Lala, singer/percussionist of the The Blues Image ("Ride Captain Ride").

This wasn't one of those lame PBS-style rock n'roll reunion acts, in which mummified, out-of-tune rockers are resurrected to masquerade as their former selves. Forty-some years after setting the beat for South Florida baby boomers, The Kollektion strapped it on again and wailed the same magic, mojo and energy that made it special to have celebrated Miami's best local bands at The World, Thee Image, The Place, Trader John's and the adolescent Friday night Surfside Community Center dances.

Special thanks to old friend George Butticaz, Jim Borgmann and Rick Shaw for bringing back the joy of growing-up Miami.

Now, pass that joint, please.
