Canada Coast-Guard rams Sea Shepherd twice.
Cool comments, no specific order:

IMO Marine orders Part 30 "Prevention of Collisions"

Navigation Act 1914.

Both powerful sets of regulations that all vessels must abide by.

CCG's Des Groseilliers was completely at fault in this deliberate collision.
The Marine Enquiry will find CCG actions were
to blame entirely & premeditated in nature.

Result: Minimum downgrading of bridge crew navigating officers licences, with possible cancellations & fines.

Those officers should have obeyed Marine Law not Loyola Hearn.

They are there to document the seal slaughter. How do you suggest they should be documenting, oil paintings on the spot?

I say we club some inbred fuckin' Newfies. Whaleoilbeefhooked, my ancestors started the sheep humping craze, and i'z the b'y that sail'd 'er. You can't find any other way of making money. Sell one of your fifteen children to medical science, i'm sure they'd pay lotsa cash to study such a limited gene pool.

  • @Dogmeat1950 It's normally called a "safety zone". That wasn't the point of my post. Even when I was onboard CG ships, we didn't "ram" other ships. And I did learn a little about the "rules of the road" in my 20 years of service.

  • @tc1uscg O I do know, my father was in the USCG and I grew up around the USCG . first of all "rules of the road " no such thing with a ship.

also look around....what's in the water... it's called ice! a ship like Sea Shep can make waves large enough to harm those hunters in there small boats. when the USCG enforces a zone and tells you to stay away...you stay away. you don't come close. CCG and the USCG are not dumb they know what the Sea Shepard is trying to do.

  • It would have been better to let the SS hit him instead, then he could have taken some action that would have detained them for a very long time (wink). Still, unless the SS had displayed a hostile act or was breaking a law, both Capt's put their crews and vsl's in a bad situation. And by the time the USCG got permission to do anything, the SS would have don't their duty and halled ass. Don't challange me on that. Been there.. Done that. And it's very frustrating.

  • @Dogmeat1950 I don't disagree there. However, the CCG was putting it's vessel between the Sea Shep and the hunters? The SS could have been on a course that could have put the hunters in danger? You don't know, I don't know. And just because it's the CG (CCG or USCG) they don't have the right-away. There are rules of the road that ALL have to follow. This wasn't a normal situation therefore, the CCG used it's boat to "redirect" the SS. See next..

  • @tc1uscg FALSE you know damn well what they would have done to those hunters, Coast Guards must enforce the law of the sea.

  • it's the Coast Guard..luck it wasn't the USCG they would have arrested your ass for trying to harm hunters and Fishermen

  • there may be rules of the road or the ocean but you have to make way for the police/coast guard regardless.

  • aww it forgot to show the guy in cuffs after the video....... lol

  • @MrJERICHOJIM on top of that with the ice melting earlier in the year the polar bears are not getting enough time in their hunting ground thus creating a over population in seals..... the hunting is to maintain the ecosystem as well. too many seals equals over hunted fish equals no fish....

  • Military and law enforcement vessels always have the right of way. Also, in every video I have seen of the Sea Shepard, they are always harrassing the other ships.
