Saw Rankin Roger & The Beat play this last night in a great gig at Stratford, went down a storm, he's a legend!!

@skatingdread Ranking Roger, it's very nice to meet you! I'm only a 23 year old dominican lad, but when I was 16, the english beat and general public's tenderness were the soundtrack of my life. Tenderness is so beautiful, I can't even begin to describe it! Plus, Ferris Bueller's day off is my favorite movie, so I love the instrumental version of Rotating Head that Hughes played at the end! You should come to my country and blast a Ska explosion! You rock!

It show where Big Audio came from

I liked that. Maybe we can get Dave of the English BEat to do it!

Well we used a studio i think in notting hill.
Mick Jones was with me and a couple of engineers.
We took the original 24 track and took the lead vox out.
Anyway,it was not allowed to be let out to anyone, althouh i gave the late John Peel a copy of it (R.I.P.)
but......yes,I guess you could say it was a demo waiting approval i guess.
Thanks for letting people hear what could have been a remix,if it was finished.
Better some than none!
Respect!
RR :)

no problem! and thanks for all the information about it I have to say I can't imagine how good this would have been if you guys had finished it! I mean I think this version sounds great and this is just the rough mix! but anyways big respect on this one! I think I actually like this version better than the original Rock The Casbah I think I might search and see if I can find that version of Red Angel Dragnet with you toasting over since I think that would be very cool to listen to

Nice to see this cut up here.
I recorded this for the Clash in London around 82-3 when the clash and the beat toured quite a bit in the U.S.A together.
I also did a toast/rap over red angel dragnet which i have
not heard since.
I did it as a one take in the studio. The Clash split up shortly afterwards so it was never released.
What you guys are hearing here was just a rough mix for us to go away and listen too.
it was never finished.
