Dry fire is an essential practice technique that will enhance your shooting ability very quickly. It allows you to practice trigger control, sight alignment, transitions and movements without having to spend time on the range. It is also, a very cost effective way to get better at your shooting sport.

  • Dumb question, and maybe I missed it - do you put dummy rounds in your pistol when dry firing, or leave nothing in the chamber?

  • @calebargh I do use a dummy round when dry firing a 1911. Using the shim trick with the Glock, I don't bother as the striker isn't.......striking.

  • @calebargh I generally don't have anything in the chamber when dry-firing. I like to keep separate the motions I go through when shooting and when dry-firing, so don't like to "load" anything into the chamber when doing the latter.
