As a man of Polish descent, I loved this movie. Since Valli's character came from a hard working Polish family in Pennsylvania. The Catholic theme of self-sacrifice was interwoven throughout the film. I think it touched many hearts, including mine.
I love this movie, I watched a colored version on tv a few years ago, and I think that Miss Valli was fantastic in the Joan of Arc scene. I am a fan of Fred MacMurray and Alida Valli, and though I like Sinatra, in this movie he was fatally miscast. I wish that I could find this film to watch it again. Thanks for the clip. Great!
Thank you for posting. I belong to the Parish where this movie was filmed. My Love rests in Peace there too. I am waiting for the next Miracle of the Bells.
I like your vid clip and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another video clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's movie stars, including: Fred MacMurray, Bing Crosby, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Clark Gable, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo,Johnny Weismuller, Gary Cooper and Carole Lombard.
this movie needs to be out on DVD!

Good clip, but apart from the sequence when Valli 'performs' Joan of Arc, my fave
is the 'setting straight' about America that the director gives the smart-mouthed,
spoiled foreign actress who's then sent packing.
