  • This is one of Sousa's "Masonic" marches, and as he was an active Freemason, it has been speculated that the "Thunderer" was the nickname of a friend in his lodge.

  • @Audinos

I don't care! It's my favourite Sousa's march, Masonic or not.

  • But thanks for this information.

  • Is that real D-Day footage?

  • I think... But it can be propaganda...

  • No. It's a very "clean" recreation for the newsreels.

    How can you tell?

The soldiers are not dying enough on the beach, and the beach has no obstructions (coiled razor wire, tank "trippers", or mines).

Rommel was in charge of that area for the German Army, and took it's defense very seriously. He knew that landing was coming, and how disastrous it would be if not repelled quickly.

His sea wall defenses were formidable.

  • Excuse me, I did this video with that i had. And why talking about Rommel?

I Think this is not a d-day footage but one of the operation "Torch".

  • @francesco064 IO SONO APPASSIONATO DI QUESTO GENERE DI MUSICA CIAO E BUON ASCOLTO

  • It is THE fave of mine ! I have Victor 12" disks but they don't include this. This thrilling piece was one "Archive.org", but suddenly the sound went off -and stayed off- on that website. After trying for 2 weeks to jimmy it back -and exploring YouTube's videos of cylinders and old shellac disks playing - I just DELETED the favorites link to archive.org (2 websites -both won't run on my laptop) and that was that !

    This was the best performance.

  • i played this for marching band in the homecoming parade

  • This music is awesome, its one piece by J.P. Sousa that really moves me, even though I'm Engish. I would though, love to hear it played by the massed Bands of the Royal Marines. They are one of the few marching bands that would do this justice.

  • @Audinos

Have you been to the East ?
