Why blame speculators when prices go up and talk about Federal policies when prices go down. Finally we know tht the far left in your party (possibly including the president) are pandering to environmentalists who don't want fossil fuels to be encouraged in any way.

Agree with increasing US and Canadian access. The SOR is for strategic needs only- not to pander to voters. Blaming specullators is bogus. Look at coffee, corn, cotton,-all have "speculation". For every winner there is a loser. This is what a free market is about. Oil and gas prices are up far less in real terms than any of the above in the last 40 years.

Rep. McIntyre's priorities prove he is obtuse. He is a military oligarch as addicted to oil and energy depletion as the worst, lowest, criminal junkie society has produced.

Your brilliant idea is to raise the cost to producers, release the strategic oil reserves (so they are not strategic but a tool for pricing by politicians), support funding for yet another bureaucrat run agency, and you want us to believe you are against the very bureaucratic boondoggles which were instituted under your watch when the Democrats held a vast control of the government? No wonder Heritage Foundation rates you at 16 percent of a Congressmen!

Congr. McIntyre is either dumb or thinks you are by trying to enact #'s 3 and 4. Releasing oil from SPR will push down the spot price for about a week or two. Then the market, knowing that there is less supply in the SPR, will spike back higher than before. Also, speculators can "control" price direction in the near term but not over the long run. There is simply too much volume out there. The main problem: Supply and Demand. We're running out of oil. Face reality then find solutions.
