KIM MITCHELL LIVE - 1984 !!! - The Party

Recorded on a VHS tape in 1984 from the Canadian television program "The New Music", I found this in my archives of old tapes. What a find ! I believe Kim was on the Akimbo Alogo tour, playing the typical hockey arena type venues right across Canada. This is a Chum production, and also aired on MuchMusic at the time. Interesting to watch the shenannigans in this song, including Kim being vulgar at certain lyrics, so creatively kept offscreen by camera angles and censor "bleeps". It's so obvious what he was doing :)

THERE ARE THREE SONGS FROM THIS SHOW ON MY TAPE (wish I had more) SO CHECK MY VIDEOS FOR "Go For a Soda" and "Lager & Ale" AS WELL.

One of my top 10 favourite guitarists of all time. And this is saying a lot. One this list is names like E. Johnson, E. Van Halen, W. DeMartini, N. Schon, and J. Waters.

Kim's chops were outrageous at the time of this video. I mean, he's always great, obviously. But his playing was ON FIRE here.

Very cool how they break into 'Beyond the Moon' at 6:50 from Max Webster's Mutiny Up My Sleeve release, too.

Just saw Kim last week in Nova Scotia. I wanted to mention: THEY END THE SHOW JUST LIKE THIS SHOW ENDS !! I couldn't believe it. Kim and the band break into "Beyond The Moon" and finish the show just like in this video from 1984. I was tripped out !! Kim can still play it perfectly, of course. So for those catching his 2009 summer tour around Canada, stick around for the ending of the encore! Don't run to beat traffic !
