The all new 2010 swing-o-meter design worked by laying the traditional swing-o-meter flat on its side like a drum and move the viewpoint to the inside. There were two advantages to this, firstly, we could name the constituencies and we could update the results during the night to review a political parties actual performance: secondly by moving the drum rather than the pointer we could fit the VR swing-o-meter into any space for the campaign. This example is from during the Election Night 2010 results programme. The sequence was the result of work by the BBC VR production team, Brainstorm and Idonix. The key staff were Jonathan Spencer (BBC designer), Benedick Watt (BBC producer), Claire Bellis (BBC director), Javi Garcia (Brainstorm software engineer) not forgetting my colleagues in graphic design Paula Thompson, Julie Triton, Mike Knight, Mark Edwards, George Spencer and Louise Smith. Thanks also need to go to Danny Popkin, Diana Martin, Simon Enright and especially Craig Oliver.
