Clicker bird

Shemesh the sun conure targets a stick, retrieves paper clips, even doing a flighted retrieve. She clearly distinguishes colors, but probably doesn't associate them with my words (yet?!) Yeah, I know I wasn't good about sensing when the lesson was over!

(Original title was "Shemesh goes to birdy school", but under that title the "related videos" were not bird training related. Oh well.)

hey there im starting to clicker train my umbrella cockatoo! I so far im working on the CLICK + TREAT! My next step is target! after target where i go from there? what i use the target for?

@vidgirl4444 Hey, Vidgirl, thanks for stopping by, and sorry I took SO long to reply. I'm not a real clicker training expert, but I think once they target the stick you can move it to wherever you want them to be. I did that, then moved on to an object she can lift, like a paper clip. There are some good books, and forum about clicker training. If you Google Birdclick, I think that's the name of one. I've been neglecting Shemesh's training lately, I'm afraid.
