A possible bikeway for portion of Oak and Fell streets in San Francisco could eliminate traffic lanes or parking spaces to created a safer, segregated path for cyclists, but there are concerns about the impact on existing traffic and parking. This video shows what Oak street is currently like, shot during morning rush hour on July 12, 2011.
@jose123001 Also, there would definitely be room if we chose to provide the facilities for bikes, like the separated bike lanes that are in the works on this stretch now. We build what we choose to, and only until recently has it been for cars, cars, and cars first.

@jose123001 Sure it can. That's what traffic engineering is. Traffic is changed all the time, and it acts in response to the design of the infrastructure. Fell and Oak used to be calm two-way streets before they engineered to be an on-street freeway that resulted in what we have today. It's even more astonishing to think that there would be an actual elevated freeway through there in place of the Panhandle if not for protests and a single vote of the Board of Supervisors in the 1960's.

@surrealhamper some things can't be changed.

@jose123001 Yes, it's quite unfortunate, so we'd better get started in changing that, eh?

Nice job of editing out the breaks in traffic to make it appear constant.
