I once had a job in a factory and was sweeping. The broom accidentally brushed this black woman's foot. he grabbed the broom from me and spit on it, then handed it back to me. I was like WTF!?. Later in the break room I was telling a coworker about it and she told me it was a superstition.

You never or accept a sharp thing as a gift, a pair of scissors, a knife, you have to exchange a penny for it. Very bad luck to get a knife or scissors, they cut a friendship.
