Part-10: San Francisco Travelogue Finale (for now)
"The Crookedest Street" & "The Steepest Street"

**************************************** ***************
Music: Maurice Ravel's Bolero Maurice Ravel's Boléro is a one-movement orchestral piece by Maurice Ravel. Originally composed as a ballet, the piece, which premiered in 1928, is considered Ravel's most famous musical composition. It starts softly (you might think there is no sound) and rises to a crescendo. This music was made popular by the movie "10", a 1979 romantic comedy film directed by Blake Edwards and starring Bo Derek, Dudley Moore and Julie Andrews. Considered a trend-setting film at the time, and one of the year's biggest box office hits, the movie made superstars of Derek and Moore.

The real naturally crooked street (with hairpin turns) in San Francisco is Vermont Street. I have a video of that too.

After your experience in the streets of San Francisco, if you are going to Yosemite Valley, you might want to try California's Best-Kept Secret: The most challenging road (if not the steepest) is "The Old Priest Grade". There is no published info on the grade or gradient of this road but imo it is the most challenging public road to drive in California, or perhaps in the world! The "Old Priest Grade" is in Moccasin, near Hetchy Hetchy and the Yosemite Valley. It is a very long climb uphill or downhill or a very quick fall into the deep gulch if the driver is not being careful.
Even downhill on the "Old Priest Grade" takes a good 5 minute drive (15~20mph) and the vehicle needs to be in very low gear otherwise you will burn your brakes!!! -

Moccasin, an unincorporated town in Tuolumne County, California, is located at the intersection of State Route 49 and State Route 120. Not very many people know this road.

Only the adventurous ones will try to get off HW-120 and test their driving skills....
(There are posted videos here on YouTube!!!)
