  • I find it strange how people react with horror to crash tests of older cars, and dismiss them as death traps, yet we all grew up being driven around in them, often without seat belts, never mind child seats, and not a single person I know was killed or seriously injured as a result. I'm not saying things aren't safer now, but I think the danger of older cars is massively exaggerated.

  • its a little scary that as a child i rode in one of those things. yet i still wouldnt mind owning one. old cars, despite how dangerous they are, are so much better to ride than new cars.

  • They had amazingly soft shells. Didn't make them the banger racers car of choice unlike the Granada and Cortina.

  • @DummkopfRadar It's nice to know we can still contact you here though :)

  • @postie2003 fact is, if you crash your mondeo today, you will have more probability to survive.

anyway, you are absolutely right mate.

  • @GottfriedvonCramm absolutely

  • @postie2003 oh no thats not true, i died in an 1981 opel rekord!

  • score: 4... deaths.

  • is that fuel spewing out of the filler cap shortly after impact? Good grief!

  • @postie2003 i know people that died in older cars one serisoly injured and they would of been better off in a newer car

  • @postie2003 The death rates of yearly accidents percentage wise has gone down tremendously with newer technologies like side curtain airbags and ESC. So yea, in the same kind of crash a new vs. old POS box it is a death trap.

  • @postie2003 You also have to remember that there was a lot less traffic, a better standard of driving, less speed and less other cars that weigh 2 tonnes to hit. It's a very different world now.
