  • Dear mr. archer,

I have an old diana mod. 23 break barrel spring powered air rifle, but it's got nothing at all on it for attaching a scope. This means i had to improvise a little and attached one anyways using tie wraps. It's pretty firm, but would this have any consequenses for my gun's accuracy?

  • Unfortunately I doubt that an improvised method of scope mounting will hold accuracy long in practical use, particularly with a spring-piston air rifle such as the Diana. But I could be wrong. Good luck!

  • Just a technical point. I note that when you load another pellet you return the barrel up to the stock, so that the muzzle is pointed up. When I do that with my break-barrel the pellet falls out. I have to bring the stock up the barrel with the muzzle pointed down. Am I doing anything wrong?

  • The pellet should not fall out as you describe. I would try a different type of pellet that fits tightly into the barrel of your air rifle.

  • Good video for explaining.

Combine this with the follow through technique, IE squeezing the trigger, and keeping it held until the pellet/Projectile has hit the target, to minimise movement during the shot, Don't let go until its hit the target, otherwise you will be moving. then you are onto a winner!

  • Thanks for the supportive words and additional excellent suggestions!

  • Mr. Archer:

would this technique apply to single pump pneumatics such as a daisy grizzly?

  • This is not true!

I tried this a hundred times but did'nt work

  • Thank you Mr. Archer

  • HI ... I got very decent shoots at 25 Yards with a 4 x 32 scope . I can shoot a plastic cup (1,5 inches) from this distance , Im sure I can shoot anything even smaller , Is that cause the scope or is it considerate a good shooter . ?

Also I can nice shoot without the scope but havent tried at that distance

BTW gun is a Beeman® S1000 Air Rifle Combo .

Very decent for the price , just con is a little heavy

  • @Weihrauch88 Alright thanks man! Aprreciate it.

  • @knottsscary

The gun ( if you bought it new ) is going through its running in phase mate. Dieseling off excess grease/oil depending on how the gun was assembled in factory, it will gradually get better and better over time bud. It will go through loud and quiet phases, as the spring naturally turns and cycles with a shot, so oil/grease moves about a bit. If it still persists after a few hundred shots, take it back, as you don't want it doing it too much.

  • @Weihrauch88 I bought a Ruger Blackhawk .177, i'm just wondering as to why it is so loud? The first couple times I shot it,it was loud, then I shot it a couple more times and it was much quieter, then it got loud AGAIN! I was wondering do you know why this is happening.

  • Do nitro piston rifles have the same type of forward and backward recoils as a normal spring rifle would? I have found that the artillery hold is the only way to get the best accuracy from this gun. Also, if it doesn't have the same recoils, then could I use a regular rifle scope? Thanks much.

  • I really enjoy your videos Mr. Archer. Keep up the good work!
