It Gets Better: Community

Every Monday, we get together for dinner. We cook together and eat together, and last week we brought a camera and had a long conversation about our experiences as teens and how things got so much better when we left those environments.

We wanted to show the kind of positive, happy community we have after enduring some of the same things you're going through.

You'll find love, you'll find friends, and you'll do what queer people have done forever - you'll make a family. Sometimes your family of origin will come around, sometimes they don't, but the friends you make will keep you strong, loved, and grounded.

I'm straight, and have always supported gay rights. However, the "it's like a slumber party all the time" comment just reinforced my feelings. <3 I've joked with my husband that people who aren't happy in their marriage just aren't doing it right, because being married is like having your best friend spend the night at your house every night. The fact that this lovely gay couple feels the same way is just further proof that love is love, and marriage is marriage.

This is beautiful and contains an important message to LGBT (and bullied!) youth - we draw people to us and build our lives -- build our "families". I don't wont to sound like I'm denigrating the other "It gets better" videos (cuz I'm not) but your "family dinner" says much more than someone sitting there telling them "it gets better" - you're proof! Love to all of you.

better because they didnt went all "dude you have our suport" "it must be hard" or the other way going all "get away from us" you fucking sassy freak" they just made me fell normal and that, that just made me such a happy person and listening to this people who had it bad it makes me feel kinda gulty but I mean this hole project is about telling them that, I DOES GET BETTER and let me tell you somethin once you get to the place where I am trust me IT DOES GET BETTER
