I use Dr. Pedro Rodriguez's method of using Thymol crystals in Food Grade Mineral Oil and using a Mosquito fogger to apply it. After two foggings, my bees are slick and fat and healthy. It really kills the tracheal mite fast. When you have a flow on, just use the Mineral Oil alone. Nothing gets into the honey.
At the first application, I get Varroa mites dropping in about 15 to 20 minutes.
This is my first year doing so. We'll see how they get thru winter.
@hristostoev, I have recently started studying beekeeping. I was sickened to learn how many chemicals are used by beekeepers to fight mites and brood diseases. Can you imagine what gets into the honey we eat? My belief is that the primary cause of CCD is pesticides like necotines. Do you know in the case of CCD when the bees abandon the hive, other bees will not even eat the honey that is left behind. Bees usually rob honey but won't touch CCD honey. I bet it gets fed to us humans though.
This is just brutal, I can't beleive that there are people doing it. Who came up with that idea? Just put powdered sugar all over the hive and the bees, they will knock the mites off themselves. Cheers
I am beekeeper but i can t believe this what i see
