First tests of motorized camera slider in automatic/timelapse mode.

Arduino is used to control a stepper motor and motor driver (ULN2803).

In automatic mode the user can select how many hours, minutes and seconds they wish the timelapse shot to take. I intend to also implement a speed interpolation option so the user can select a constant speed, ramp up, ramp down, or ramp up then down. The motor will steps, an IR LED triggers the shutter of a 5D mark ii, the LCD countdown timer counts down the specified time.

IR LED is very directional so I may replace this with a 2.5mm jack to remotely trigger the cameras shutter.

Slider is a WS-10-80

  • Awesome!!! Where can I buy that board or controller including the led display? I also need to buy the motor you used. Is it being powered by a battery? What is the voltage? I want to build a moving timelapse too. I have timelapse videos but camera is in one place. Hope to hear from you. Great video!!! :D

  • @neilcamara Thanks! I'll send you the details but essentially it is the following:

    - 16x2 LCD module (many different brands)

    - Stepper motor from Sanyo Denki - 103H7822-0440

    - LCD module and arduino microcontroller powered by 9 volt battery

    - motor driver and stepper motor powered by 12 volt battery

    Hope that helps!

  • nice! do you have anymore info? schematics, source code etc?

  • @michaelb2706 Dang.. wish you had full details :(

  • I wish I could make circuit boards!

  • Nice work on the camera slider. are you going to post the the program code for the slider?

  • And I would like to work with Arduino!!!!

    Please Help!!!!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!

I would like to know how the program control the movement.

And I would like to know the connection of Arduino.

    Can you tell me more???

  • Great video! I've been looking to make a timelapse rig but most of the ones out there are continually moving. It looks like your is capable of moving only when the shutter is closed. So Move, Shoot, Move, Shoot, etc.

If you could share more details about what I'd need I'd appreciate it. I should have the dolly ready, I'm just not sure how to go about building the controller.

  • @michaelb2706 Yup, it does. I'm going to look for those parts here in US. Hopefully you can guide me. I do programming too but I don't know what programming is used by arduino.
