You can make inexpensive vodka taste as smooth as a top-shelf brand with a few easy maneuvers.

To complete this How-To you will need:

A bottle of cheap vodka
A water filter pitcher or food-grade activated charcoal
A mesh colander

Step 1: Pour vodka into a water filter pitcher to remove impurities, just as you would with water.

Step 2: When all the vodka has dripped through the filter, pour it into a clean pitcher and then put it through the filtering process again. Repeat at least three more times, for a total of five. Then chill and enjoy.

Step 3: If you don't have a water-filter pitcher, put two inches of food-grade activated charcoal into a three-quarters-full bottle of vodka. Put the cap back on.

Tip: Find food-grade activated charcoal at home-brew supply shops or online.

Step 4: Shake the bottle for a few minutes every day for a week. Store it in the freezer at night and at room temperature during the day.

Step 5: After a week, separate the charcoal from the vodka by pouring it through the colander. Chill the filtered vodka in your freezer for several hours before drinking. Even the least expensive vodka tastes better when it's cold.

  • @Sgt2awsome4u In the US - yes, that's the case. The rest of the world doesn't regulate vodka to be flavorless or colorless. So, depends on what you like in vodka? Me? ...flavor and character so there's no US vodka I really like.

    This video, btw, is bunk.

  • @Sgt2awsome4u bad vodka has a taste akin to rubbing alcohol. Good vodka taste like ethyl alcohol, which is much less vapory and nauseating.

  • @chrisknows The companies wouldnt do it mainly because time is money and they want to produce there product as fast and cheaply as possible, spending more time making it would cost more and it wouldnt be as cheap a vodka anymore.

  • The legal definition of vodka is colorless, odorless, and flavorless. So what really distincts good vodka from bad vodka?

  • A better way is for several dudes sitting around a table in a bar just to order bar vodka on the rocks, and one shot per table, of Kaluha neat. Then you use swizzle sticks to titrate a few drops of this coffee liqueur into your respective vodka tumblers. This is one place when least is more. I'm down to twenty drops, and no K taste.. Think ultra dry black russian. This way it's a real cheap drunk, with no hangover the next morning. One shot of K = a night's worth of your table's vodka's.

  • STAY AWAY FROM MY VODKA!!!! :D

  • step 69- no need to comb your hair as this has nothing to do with being a cheapass and filtering cheap vodka.

  • Ill post here instead of actually making a video to demonstrate. If you really want to make your cheap vodka into a more refined tipple follow these instructions.

Take your bottle of cheap vodka, put it in the freezer for 48- 72 hours.

When you remove your cheap vodka from the freezer you will notice that there are lots of frozen bits floating around in your vodka, these are the impurities, the remaining liquid is the stuff your after.

quickly filter the liquid using a sieve
